How long have you been a proposal manager/specialist/ writer? 20 years.
How did you become involved with proposals? Moved to the area and joined the proposal team when I joined the company..
Do you work in a "corporate office" or "home office" environment? Mainly Corporate Office, sometimes at home
What do you like best about working in your current environment? Ability to collaborate with team members and Subject Matter Experts. Face to Face interaction. Enjoy customer interaction.
What do you like least? Technical glitches for online proposals, some lack of understanding of what this team does with others in the company.
What do you feel is the most challenging aspect of your job? People Management and staying current with our response detail. Ensuring that our proposal presents the most compelling business case.
What shortcuts or helpful best practices about working with proposal teams could you share? Our proposal automation system, frequent training, team building exercises, continual updating and improving our answers and response packages. Webinars, videoconferencing. Suggestions from the team.
Why/when did you join APMP? To benefit from other’s experience and knowledge. Networking. Career building. To grow our team.
What is your method for successfully working with your proposal teams? Be a team player! Communicate, Communicate, And Communicate! Cross Training on various types of proposal packages.
Which type of proposals do you do most? Commercial, government or other? We support the following end use customers: Corporate, Government, Retail, Education, Healthcare and Hospitality. We respond to reactive requests as well as proactive proposals.
